Human-Centered Career Coaching

Most career tools start with the resume and work backward. We start with you and work forward. Resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles — these are side effects of knowing yourself. We help you do the deeper work first.

Two Ways to Do
The Real Work

WHAT WE OFFER

Both paths follow the same framework: Understand yourself first. Refine your narrative. Then use it. The documents come last — and they're much better for it.

1:1 Coaching
Personal Coaching Sessions

Career transitions aren't just logistical — they're identity shifts. When the role goes away, people feel like they went away too. Sophie's coaching helps you separate who you are from what you did, and rebuild from that solid ground.

HOW WE THINK

Understand. Refine. Use.

Career transition work is cyclical, not linear. Skills inform experiences, experiences expose skills, and both feed into how you show up — in documents, conversations, and interviews. Here's the sequence that actually works.

01
Understand

Gain clarity about your professional identity. Who are you? What do you value? What energizes or drains you? Naming things gives you power over them.

02
Refine

Shape that self-knowledge into coherent narratives. Process your experiences, articulate what you've done and why it mattered — in your own words, your own voice.

03
Use

Deploy that self-knowledge strategically — through resumes, cover letters, networking, and interviews. The documents are the last step, not the first.

"The ownership test is simple: when someone asks you about your experience, can you speak naturally about it? Or are you trying to remember what your resume says?"

Most people build their identity around their role rather than around the parts of themselves that enabled them to do the role. When the role goes away, they feel like they went away too. Our job is to help you separate who you are from what you did — so you always know what you bring, regardless of what's on your business card.

Built from Curiosity and Conviction

Space Between was born from a simple observation: most career tools have it backwards. They start with the document and work backward to the person. We flip that entirely.

Sophie brought 15 years of coaching experience and a belief that the deepest career work is internal — identity, values, the language of your own competence. Michael built a tool to make that work accessible to anyone, anywhere, whether or not they can afford a coach. Together, they created something the career development world has been missing: a platform that treats self-understanding as the prerequisite, not the afterthought.

"There are plenty of opinions about what to do. A lot less clarity about the how and the why — and that's where real transformation happens."

— Michael Bocim, Founder, CTO
01

Resumes Are Side Effects

If you know who you are and what you bring, the document practically writes itself. Skip that step and you're just guessing. We start with the person, not the page.

02

Ownership Over Automation

When AI generates your professional story, you don't own it — and that makes everything harder: interviews, networking, knowing what you're even looking for. Your voice isn't replaceable.

03

Mirror, Not Prescription

Most people have what they need in their head — it's just getting it out. We reflect what's already there rather than telling you what you should be. Descriptive, not prescriptive.

04

Excavation, Not Generation

We're not here to write your story for you. We ask good questions, surface what you already know, and help you find the language. That's not generation — that's excavation.

How They Work Together

Two Paths. One Goal. Your Narrative.

Coaching and Res/You/Me are two expressions of the same methodology. Use one, or use both — they're designed to work as a system, and you can enter at any point.

Start With The App
A Complete Experience

Some people never need a coach — and that's exactly the point. Res/You/Me is a complete self-guided experience. If coaching comes later, you'll arrive more prepared than most clients ever are.

During Coaching
Momentum Between Sessions

Already working with a coach? The app keeps the work going between sessions — so insights don't get lost and momentum doesn't stall.

After Coaching
The Practice Continues

When a coaching engagement ends, the app means the work doesn't have to. You keep the method, the frameworks, and the momentum — independently.

The App

The method. Structured, replicable, and available 24/7 — for everything in between.

The Coach

Presence. Responsiveness. Challenge. Trust. The human relationship that no app can replace.

Our Coaching Philosophy

The Quality of Your Reflection Shapes the Quality of Your Outcomes

You already have the answers.

What you need is the structure, the space, and the right questions to surface them. That's what every session — and every feature in the app — is designed to provide.

Coaching is solutions-focused and forward-looking.

Each session has a purpose. Together we build a roadmap. Without that structure, we're just having a conversation. That's not coaching — and you deserve more than that.

Everything we build belongs to you.

Your insights, your narrative, your next step. I'm here to guide the process. You do the thinking. That's not a disclaimer — it's the whole point.

Come ready, willing, and accountable.

To get the most out of this engagement, you need to do the work between sessions, step outside your comfort zone, and take ownership of your progress. I'll hold the structure — you hold the commitment.

"I'll hold the structure — you hold the commitment. To get the most out of this, you need to come ready, willing, and accountable."

Space Between would not exist without the complementary vision, skills, and deep commitment of two people who believe careers deserve more than a chatbot.

Michael Bocim
Founder · CTO

Michael is first and foremost an accomplished musician — a clarinet and tenor saxophone player who has spent years immersed in jazz ensembles. That background isn't incidental to what he builds: music taught him to understand systems deeply, to hear how individual parts create something greater, and to hold complexity with precision and feel.

Before becoming a software engineer, Michael spent years as a head instrument repair technician — developing a craftsman's eye for detail and a deep empathy for how things break and how they're restored. That same sensibility drove his transition into tech and ultimately into building Res/You/Me: a tool born from his own experience of navigating career change, articulating transferable skills, and rebuilding a professional identity from the ground up.

Based in Colorado, Michael is a full-stack engineer who built Res/You/Me from initial sketches to deployment. Outside of code, you'll find him at a jazz rehearsal, at a 3D printer, folding origami, or making an audience laugh at stand-up improv.

With 15 years of experience guiding professionals from entry-level to executive, Sophie has coached over 1,000 clients through transitions, leadership pivots, and career reinventions — always with a belief that the human doing the work matters more than any tool.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sophie holds a Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching (Academy of Executive Coaching, London) and graduate degrees in English Studies from the Sorbonne and the University of Connecticut.

Outside of coaching, Sophie is a ceramist. And pottery has taught her something she brings to every client engagement: the concept of intentional pressure. There's a crucial difference between productive discomfort — the stretch that builds new capability — and destructive stress that breaks rather than shapes. The wheel has made her a better coach. She knows what it feels like to be a beginner again, to sit with uncertainty, and to trust that the form will emerge if the pressure is just right.
